Film classifications in Britian

The classification is just a guidline that helps you to make your own descion about if you want to see the film or not. A film is first viewed by a group of people and is then analysed and different sections are then placed into different age groups. The makers of the film then have the choice to change the parts that have been rated a higher age range or keep them the same but will have to have the age certificate that has been given to the film. Some producers will want blood and gore, sex and violence, which will then have a higher age rating.

Soundbite essays

We had a lesson in class and we were told to write up our work in the form of Soundbite essays. Because I am new to media I went of to find out what they were. Soundbite essays are like shortened parts of a specific thing with as much detail in it as possible. examples could be Film trailers, Blurbs on the back of books or headlines in newspapers. All of these are shortened versions of the real things with as much detail in it as possible so you can find out more about a specific thing

This is the first time I have seen film noir so i found it hard to write 500 words on something i didnt know much about.

Marketing, Distribution and Exchange

Exchange is a different way in which a product can be viewed. A film can be viewed as a one off at the cinema, it can be bought or rented on video / DVD it could be viewed on TV or streamed or downloaded from the internet. When making our film we will need to carryout some desktop and primary research to find out the most noticed form of advertising and then come to an agreement to which method we will choose.

Distribution is the way a product can be consumed. For example a film can be consumed by: digital or streamed viewings at a cinema, it can be bought or rented at a shop, at film events. Marketing is the way the consumers can become aware of the product. For example: premiers of the film, trailers in a cinema, Television, On the internet for example youtube a cinema website aswell Or it could be passed on from person to person by them telling each other.

It also uses heavy shadowing to show how dark and mysterious a character is. Below is the website where i found this information.
